Before I saw one of your paintings, art, I
thought, was for the eccentric. I could never
appreciate all those abstract images that didn’t
speak to my senses. Such jarring
nonrepresentational images shocked, or rather,
stunned numbing my aesthetic senses. Then your
paintings happened. I stumbled across them one
day at the inner gallery and immediately I was
pulled into the world you created, and I
realized what beauty there was in the mundane.
Your paintings hold me captive and I am
astounded at how amazing your work is. Then
something propelled me to your website and I was
admiring your art again. And only one word came
to my mind: incredible. I bet sometimes you look
over your work and you think: “This is nothing
grand. Anyone can put color to canvas. I really
need to create a masterpiece.” Because
sometimes, we just can’t believe that something
we created can be called great. Indeed, we think
it may be that people are just being nice when
they compliment us on our work. But I want to
tell you that I think your work is remarkable,
breathtaking, incredible. The one you painted
with the little girl at the standpipe, “Glo”,
that one takes my breath away every time. The
way you captured life, tradition, a story. That
painting becomes for me, not just a still life
art. I can see the story behind it, and it
awakens so many memories that I have of when I
was younger. And that’s not the only thing
that’s remarkable about your work. You capture
movement, realism. The way the light hits the
water. The little girl’s pout as she drinks. The
wind ruffling her skirt so that she has to hold
it back, away form the splash of the water. The
color of the cement and the way the moss grows
over it is so realistic, it almost looks like a
snapshot. Only I’ve seen the snapshots, and your
paintings bring out much more than any snapshot
ever will. Your work only made me more and more
nostalgic the more I watched. And that says a
lot about the artist if he can evoke so much
emotion and memory from the admirer of his work.

Hello, I saw one of
your paintings at Coco Creole and loved it
instantly. Since then I seen more of your work
at Artsibit. I found your website address in a
publication and decided to go online to view
your other work. I love Caribbean Art and think
you work captures the beauty and essence of
Caribbean life - like kids playing marbles or
cricket. I especially like the village scenes.
When I enquired about the artist, I learnt you
are not from the Caribbean. Thank you for
putting on canvas such beautiful scenes of the
Caribbean and for helping us remember why our
lifestyle and culture is so unique. Continue the

I recently visited
St Lucia for a family wedding, but it was my
passion for collecting postcards of countries
and places I have visited that by chance there
was one book of JAG postcards left and I fell in
love with the pictures on first sight. My
intention was to visit your Gallery and purchase
a painting before I left for London, England,
but due to circumstances this was not possible.
Thank you very much for bringing to life so
vibrantly the beauty and spirit of St Lucia in
your pictures. I hope one day that you will
display your pictures in London. Cynthia.

Hey, I just read
about you in the Tropical Traveller online, and
decided to check out your site because I liked
the Sunsplash#3 and Bow and Curtsy
paintings...but what I actually found here is
beyond my amazement. You have captured the most
beautiful emotions in your paintings. Looking
through them, I just couldn't help but smile.
Your work truly celebrates St.Lucian culture, at
the simple, true core. It's amazing how the
simple things mean so much. Thanks for helping
me remember that. Absolutely wonderful job!

get this message, your website is great. Its
nice to see such close-to-the-actual portraits

you should do a portrait of our beautiful Jany

alot of interest - I know I for one, would be
very interested. Respond if u agree. My email

Hi, I suggested that
maybe you could do a painting of Jany in honor
of her bright spirit and contribution to the
building of youth self esteem. But thinking
about it, if you decide to consult her parents
with regards to this (and they give their
consent) I think it only fair that they receive
some form of royalties from the funds that will
be made on it as a way of showing some respect
to them and her ever lingering bright spirit.

Jonathan, I have
always loved art, but never as much as I do
today since I have seen your work. You are an
extremely gifted artist worthy of the praises
people give you. I am a Canadian who fell in
love with a gentleman from Laborie while working
on a cruise ship. We have now been married for
2 months and although I've not yet had the
chance to experience St. Lucia for myself, your
paintings make me feel closer than I could have
ever imagined. It seems you know my husband and
his family, so it is very nice to make this new
connection (simply by coincidence)! I can only
hope to see more of your work in the future. My
new family (since I asked them about your
work yesterday) have all agreed that your work
really portrays their home well. Not only are
you an astonishing artist but it seems you are
an outstanding and kind individual as well. I
can't wait until I decide which of your pieces
to put up in our home...but there are just too
many to choose from! May God bless you and may
all of your dreams come true. Sincerely, Mrs.

I am a st Lucian and
I think that this artist really does paint the
soul of our people. His use of colours, shadows
and expressions are superb. Like he said you
have to be there to experience the soul of the
Lucian people and having resided in Laborie has
helped him grasp that feeling to the T.
